It’s hard to keep in mind, statistics when you’re playing poker, I guess that’s why we play with an odds calculator! But the flop is actually the most pivotal moment in the game, even though you can’t be 100% confident of your cards till you’ve seen the river. I regularly play at PokerStars and am always impressed by the gems of wisdom that they bestow upon their players. A while ago I came across this quote by Lou Krieger when I was brushing up on my game in their Support section and since discovering him, I’ve tried to read everything he’s written since.
Lou Krieger hails from Brooklyn, where he grew up watching his father play poker at the weekly Thursday night tournament held at his Dad’s house. From an early age he was entranced by the game and he’s been playing ever since. He is also the author of several books on poker, which I would highly recommend, especially Poker for Dummies, which is well on its way to becoming the best selling book on poker ever written.
